After Mary, the mother of Jesus, conceived through the Holy Ghost, she went to the city  of Judah, which has been identified with Ein Karem. There she met her relative, Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, who was in her sixth month of pregnancy. During the meeting, Elizabeth blessed Mary and Mary proclaimed the Magnificat. The prayer of the Magnificat (Luke 1, 39-56), in many languages, is hung in the yard of the Church of the Visitation .
